Five years ago today we did this

It's been five years of marriage today! Brett and I dated for a little over three years before we were married so it's a whopping 8 years together. We were what you call slow movers. We had seen each other once before and actually both of us remembered one another from that brief encounter. After working with men who prefer men and tons of women, I decided to take the plunge and try to broaden my dating circle.

I had been down to visit my friend Stella for spring break so we went to the Pacific Beach singles ward. I saw this cat stroll in late looking like daddy's little rich kid and he quickly sat a few rows in front of me. I remember thinking that he was probably spoiled and appeared to be aloof from his serious demeanor. Not to mention he kept fixing his and fussing with his clothes. I crack up now because that is just Brett. He still has a serious demeanor at church and now we fuss with Sienna's clothes. He told me later that I looked like I'd be fun to date for a week or two. The nerve! We never spoke at church but then when we were talking months later on-line we remembered one another from that ward.

Wedding:

We kept it small just close family and friends. I wouldn't change a thing but the photographer who left poor Moroni out of most of the pictures. That's what you get for hiring a photographer who specialized in photographing rock concerts.

Marriage:
I realize everyone has their ups and downs but it is the time in between the smiles that I think that real growth comes. The hard work, the knitty gritty, the "opportunities for communicating better", and all that jazz reveals what your made of and hopefully makes you a better partner. I sure am looking forward to the next 5. Happy Fifth Sweetie!
